I have a dream
This speech is a call to tolerance while, in America, racism is reigning. Too many conflicts exist between people who don’t accept their fellow’s differences. Martin Luther King’s dream is that one day, the creed of America will really be respected : all men are created equal, so we must not differentiate them because of the colour of their skins. According to him, his own dream should be American dream. This though should be rooted in the heart of each.
He thinks that the conflict between the former slaves’ descendents and the former slave owners’ descendents have to end : the past is over, now things have to change to make a better future. It’s not the colour of the skin which make the person, so we mustn’t judge somebody by that, cause it is not the reflect of the content of his character ! Only brotherhood and freedom should be ringing everywhere in America : Blacks and Whites should be able to share the same activities, the same places... Martin Luther King refers to the patriotic song “ My country ‘tis of thee “ in order to illustrate his thought : once again he means that liberty must reigning in the “sweet land” that America
