Social Media Policy
While all Supercorp employees are encouraged to participate in Social Media, it is expected of everyone who participates in online commentary to understand & to comply with the following guidelines.
These guidelines cover all social media platforms including but not limited to:
-Social Networking Sites (Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, Linkedin etc.)
-Video & Photo Sharing Websites (YouTube, Flickr etc.)
-Micro-blogging sites (Twitter)
-Blogs (any personal or company blogs as well as comments on other blogs)
-Forums, Discussion boards & chat rooms (Google groups etc.)
-Online Encyclopedias (Wikipedia etc.)
In brief, guidelines for all online endeavors are:
-Be honest about who you are
-Be clear that your opinions are your own
-Show respect & understanding in all communication
-Be prudent about the information you put out there
-Be aware that what you say, post, comment on etc. is permanent
-Be honest about who you are
Always be transparent about who you are & who you represent. Use your real name, identify that you work for Supercorp & what your role is.
Always give credit when quoting others. Never attempt to pass off someone else's opinions, ideas, language, media (photography, videos, written work etc.), or any information other than your own. All copyright, privacy, & other laws that apply offline apply online as well. Be sure to credit your sources.
Unless given permission by your manager, you are not authorized to speak on behalf of the company, nor represent that you do so.
-Be clear that your opinions are your own
If you are writing a blog or creating a website that mentions or will mention your company & anything affiliated with it, you must identify that you are an employee & that the views expressed on the blog/website are yours alone & do not represent the views of the company. Also, as a courtesy to the company, please let your manager know that you are writing about the company. Your
