Rôle du chercheur
Each group was made up of a chairperson, a secretary, a treasurer, a marketer and a researcher. Their aim was to organise a fund-raising to amass as much money as possible in order to sponsor two organisations. The first was Macmillan cancer association and the second was the Caledonian Ceilidh event. The execution of this fund-raising has required several researches described below.
Firstly, we made a list of all the activities which we could use to raise money. So, we can see below the planned activities:
- Bag packing
(The goal is to offer customers of a large supermarket such as Tesco and Asda, the possibility to pack their bags. During this action, a member of the group exposes our support Macmillan cancer to collect money from these customers.)
- Clean cars
(The goal is to wash private cars in exchange for a sum of money.)
- Bake Sale
(The goal is to sell cakes prepared by members of the group.)
Eventually, we decided to do: bag packing and bake sale.
Concerning the bag packing, it was necessary to contact Asda and Tesco. Indeed, we needed their permission in order to conduct this project and know the procedures on the day of the event. However, considering the increased number of requests for this activity, we received refusal from Asda and Tesco. These are very demanding on the candidates because they represent their mark during the activity.
Consequently, we focused on the bake sale. We chose to make this sale to the university because it is a place where there is a large number of people (students, lecturers, staff ...).
In order to have the appropriate authorizations and the equipments needed for the sale, we conducted the Student Desk in the Heriot-Watt University. There was no problem and they have provided us with a table during the sale day.
We were careful finding a relevant place. Indeed, we settled in front of the union shop. It is a place of passage required to go eating in the morning or at lunch.
