Nowadays, alternative therapies are gaining in importance in our country, but are they safe? Are they effective? Can we trust them?
Some people believe that these techniques report a lot of benefits to our body. They also think that this type of medicine may cure any disease. For this reason, there are many websites on the Internet offering the services of who say to be experts in the field and explaining the methods of these therapies.
On the other hand, some people think that alternative therapies are ineffective. They argue that if these therapies were effective, they would be included in the conventional treatments. Moreover, they say that many of these techniques have been investigated and its inefficiency has been proved. What is more, alternative medicine has been defined by some of them as a fraud.
In my opinion, alternative therapies are good if you use them as a complement of the treatments which are part of the conventional healthcare system. If you see them as a substitute, you can be missing the opportunity to obtain treatments that could be more helpful. For example, you can feel that the alternative treatment that you are following is effective, but you may be under a placebo effect which causes that the correct and true effective conventional treatment is dangerously delayed.
So, the next time that your knee is swollen, receive an acupuncture treatment if you rely on it, but remember, also see your doctor and follow it treatment too!
