The beginning of rumours concerning the Loch Ness monster dates back from the year 565. Indeed saint Colomban would have force it to escape. But the first mention of the creature has no scientist value because Christians used it to glorify their saints. However it has the merite to indicate us that a monster used to live there at this time. A medieval tale mentions that the last dragon of the Scotland has been caught in a castle and would have been killed by Fraser De Glenvacke but that nobody has still made a success of killing the Loch Ness monster. The first real testimony goes back to 1527 and was reported by Hector Boece in his work “History of Scottland” : “This terrible animal went out of the water. It knocked down oaks with its tail and killed three men. Others ran away in the forest whereas the monster turned around in the loch.”
In the middle of the 17th century the floating island of the loch ness has been evoked. It is possible that it hinted at a large-sized unknown animal. Furthermore, according to certain sources, a book written in 1769 would have mentioned that “two creatures were perceived on several occasions in the loch by the builders of a road.”
John Keel, an American researcher specialized in the mystery of the Loch Ness monster, would have found an article on the monster in a newspaper appeared in 1890.
In 1896, inhabitants of Strong Augustus perceived strange animals in this lake.
One of the witnesses, a local storekeeper called James Rose saw “a big apparently hunchbacked object which moved fastly on the loch.”
1933 is a very important year in Nessie's story. On April the 14th, the newspaper Inverness Courrier dedicated a long article to the monster. So, the tourists began to flock to this place. The same year, a couple of vacationers observed a monster appearing from bushes on a hill near the road leading to the lake. In the narrative they reported to the press, they considered that the animal measured approximately 2 meters long
