Hello everyone! I’m here today to talk to you about consumer attitudes to the French newspapers and magazines.
Is someone knows what is the newspaper the most read in France? (20 minutes)
My article, which title is “les francais toujours aussi nombreux à lire les journaux » comes from Le Figaro and was published the 16th September of 2009. It’s about the evolution of the newspapers and magazines reading in France.
I will first explain how the number of readers of newspapers evolve, and then I will talk about the magazines.

I-
Firstly, the article shows that since 2008, the daily newspapers audience is stable. In fact, there is 24.2 million of people who read a newspaper everyday which represent near 1 french / 2.
According to the Institute Audipress which realizes audience studies, the regional daily newspaper are the most read with 17.6 million of readers, then there are the nationals, the regional weekly and finally the free daily newspaper.
However, since 2008 and the beginning of the economical crisis, the household have changed their habits, and buy less often newspapers.
Consequently, all sort of newspapers have suffered of a decline of readers. The most affected are Le Monde, Libération, L’équipe with a fall of 7.5% but In the same time the free daily like Direct Matin or Direct Soir have an increase of 2.2%.

II-
For the magazines, the tendency is the same and sometimes even worse .We can notice a decrease of 3.2% on the whole.
The type of magazines the most affected is men magazines, people magazines, economics and TV press with a decrease of 4.7%
But some magazines like Vogue, Bien Etre & Santé have succeeded to resist to the crisis and the readers are still faithfull . And surprisingly, there is an increase of readers for the family and parents magazines.
Besides, Some managers sales think that the press situation will quickly improve with the end of the crisis and thanks notably to the creation of new magazines like Grazia or new
