1) The benefits of ethical business behavior affect the business itself and the wider community. Taking an example of an Anglo American business project, identify the benefits to the local community and to the company’s shareholders.
Anglo American has had to do two relocations in South Africa. To do the relocation in the best conditions, the company has involved not only the local government but also local tribal leadership, and has consulted local people. In this way, the company found an agreement which satisfy each part. The benefits for the local community are: they kept their job in a company which practice an ethical business and which care about its employees, but not only, they got better houses and infrastructures, and more land for farming. In this way, the local economy and conditions of living of the local economy can be only better. The benefits for the company shareholders are : they didn’t lost productivity by engaging and training new staff, such practice give a very good image of the company for investors who can see an sustainable company, and are confident for long term investments.

2) How is Anglo American’s reputation enhanced by engaging with local communities in decision making?
Anglo American’s reputation is enhanced by engaging with local communities in decision making by considering the impact of its activity by the point of view of the locals, and then by providing new jobs and revenues for the local economy, and not only, the company develops programs to improve health and education. In this way Anglo American is a very good partner for the governments.
