The first contact between Cherokees and Spanish was in 1540, during the first Spanish’s expedition led by Hernando de Soto and the second expedition led by Juan Pardo crossed in their country. They built six forts in the Southeast and the Cherokees have killed all of Spanish who came to visit their towns and burnt their forts. After that Spanish retreated to the coast.
During the War who opposite French colonies and English colonies of North America, Cherokees help England, and there are with them during the War of Independence in America. In 1785, they negotiate a treaty of peace with United-states, but the Cherokee’s resistance during 10 years. In 1791, a new treaty confirms the last, and the Cherokees give a part of their territory to United-states who agree permanents rights to Cherokees in their lands.
Deposit of gold were discover in Cherokee’s lands, and, in 1819, Georgia ask to American’s government for evacuate Cherokee to their territory. But American’s government refuse and Georgia try to buy the territory. In 1838, falderal’s troops start to evacuate Cherokee by force. Cherokee was displaced to WEST in walk of 430km, called “Trail of Tears”.
