Charles Robert Darwin (12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882) was an English naturalist. He established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestry, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection.
To succeed his grandfather, Charles Darwin began studying medicine he leaves for theology. He then embarks on a ship engaged in observations in geology and biology. Upon his return, he compares his work to the existing theories. He then confirms those of Lyell: the Earth's surface is subject to continuous changes, induced by natural forces. He adds, however, that species are changing and are not fixed. His early ideas contained in his' Notebooks on Transmutation of Species, his theory proved in 1838, through the manuscript of Alfred Russel Wallace, who in turn makes the evolution of species. This convergence of views, while the two men do not know, push the conservative Charles Darwin published 'The Extract of an essay on the Origin of Species'. This title is considered too long by the publisher that requires a more imposing title, 'On the Origin of Species, published in 1859. Darwin's ideas from Lamarck. Mendel's laws later confirmed his ignorance about the transmission of changes between generations. Charles Darwin creates the theory of evolution that humans descended from monkeys, expressed in 'The human line' in 1871. This earned him the wrath of his contemporaries.
